Hillside Public House is a unique concept brought on by a great business venture between John Male and Steve Funk. Steve Funk is the owner of Hillside Spirits, and the two have been friends for over 20 years. Steve entered into the distillery business in Dewey/Rehoboth Beach in 2013, which is the town John and Steve met over 20 years ago at the STARBOARD. He left the beach distillery and started Hillside Spirits in Paradise, PA in 2018.
Soon after, John Male bought the historic Donecker's building. He called up Steve and asked him if he wanted to expand his Hillside Spirits Distilling Company into Ephrata. Steve agreed and a great business venture was formed. John and Steve are very excited about this new venture and hope this public house continues to be an asset to the Ephrata community.
The Hillside is a tasting room with multiple beverage and food options. We have 8 beers on tap and a variety of cans from different parts of the state. Hillside Spirits provides vodka, flavored vodka, gin, and rum. The rest of our full bar is stocked with other local distillery brands. Our major food partners are Tsunami Sushi and Wild Wings.
Hillside Public House at Donecker's is run by ambassadors of the brand which makes the restaurant a more personal experience. We can't wait to see you there!
